Associate Professor Catherine F. Sinclair is the leading Australian authority in thyroid radiofrequency ablation. She a globally recognised expert in thyroid and neck endocrine surgery, and a pioneer in the use of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for benign thyroid nodules. With advanced fellowship training in both head and neck surgery and laryngology, and over a decade of leadership at Mount Sinai West Hospital in New York, she has helped shape the global landscape of thermal ablation. In 2019, she performed the first RFA for a benign thyroid nodule in New York, and in 2021, she introduced the procedure to Australia, performing the first thyroid RFA in the country. Dr Sinclair is a prolific academic, having authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters specifically on thermal ablation, thyroid cancer, and neuromonitoring. She is frequently invited to speak at national and international conferences to present on the latest advances in thyroid ablation, reflecting her leadership and deep expertise in the field.
